Benin Card


On this cold 1st September i'll show you my first card from Benin! It took me a long time to get a postcard from this country in Africa and i'll have to thank my friend Felicien very much!
Benin is a state in West Africa and even the country is independent from France since 1960, French is still the official language. In Benin there are over 60 language groups. The capital city is Porto Novo and about 8.971.944 people are living in Benin. The biggest city is Cotonou with 779.314 inhabitants. The currency is the CFA-Franc BCEAO. The economy  is based on agriculture, mainly corn, sorghum, manioc, yam, sweet potatoe, legumes, cotton, cashew and ananas were grown. 2005 Benin was the first african state, which officially decided to end the circumcision of young girls.
